My Story

My first seizure happened when I was 14, but it took two years before I was finally diagnosed with Epilepsy at 16.

During that time, I struggled a lot with school, confidence and feeling different from everyone around me. I did not always understand what was happening to me, and it often felt like other people did not understand either. I was later diagnosed with a learning disability linked to my Epilepsy, which made certain parts of education and everyday life more challenging.

As I got older, epilepsy continued to affect different areas of my life, from my independence and confidence to the way I saw myself. There were times when I felt isolated, frustrated and held back by something other people could not always see. Over time, I began to understand my Epilepsy more and started to find confidence in speaking about my experiences rather than hiding them. I realised how powerful lived experience can be when it is shared honestly, especially when it helps someone else feel understood.

That journey became one of the biggest reasons I created Purpledayss. I wanted to turn some of the hardest parts of my own experience into something positive, create the conversations I needed when I was younger and help other people living with Epilepsy feel less alone.

Why did I create Purpledayss?

I created Purpledayss because I never wanted someone else to feel as alone and misunderstood as I did when I was younger.

What began as a way to raise awareness has grown into something much bigger. Purpledayss now allows me to use my lived experience to educate others, bring people together, support the epilepsy community and advocate for better understanding of epilepsy and hidden disabilities.

Where I Am now?

Today, I use my experiences to create conversations that I once needed when I was younger. From speaking at events and sharing my story to creating awareness campaigns, working with organisations and bringing communities together, I’m continuing to turn lived experience into something positive. I’m still learning, growing and building Purpledayss, but everything I do comes back to the same purpose: helping Epilepsy become better understood and helping people affected by it feel seen.

Purpledayss is more than just a brand, it is a space space, where people can feel contented, make friends, and be proud of who they are. Epilepsy should never be isolating. together we can build a stronger more informed community and make a long lasting difference.
