Fundraising Policy – Purpledayss Football Match

The Purpledayss Football Match is a community fundraising event designed to raise awareness of epilepsy and mental health while supporting the ongoing mission of Purpledayss. This policy outlines how all funds are collected, handled, recorded, and used to ensure full transparency and accountability.

Fundraising Sources

Funds raised during the event may come from the following sources:

  • Ticket sales (entry to the event)

  • Raffles and fundraising activities

  • Food and drink sales

  • Bucket donations and cash collections

  • Online donations (via verified fundraising platforms such as GoFundMe)

  • Sponsorship from businesses or individuals

  • Sales of Purpledayss merchandise

Handling of Funds

To maintain transparency and integrity in all financial activities:

  • At least two volunteers must be present at all times when handling or counting money.

  • All cash collections will be stored securely in sealed containers, such as charity buckets or lockable tins.

  • Containers will only be opened by authorised individuals in a safe and secure environment.

  • Funds will be counted, recorded, and signed off by those responsible immediately after the event.

  • A detailed record of income sources (tickets, raffles, donations, etc.) will be logged and kept for auditing and reporting purposes.

Online Donations

  • All online donations will be collected through trusted, secure fundraising platforms directly linked to the official Purpledayss account.

  • Donors will receive confirmation of their contribution through the chosen platform.

  • Online totals will be included in the final fundraising report.

Transfer and Storage of Funds

  • Once counted and verified, all funds will be transferred directly into the official Purpledayss business account.

  • Funds will not be stored at home or used for personal expenses at any point.

  • No individual involved in the event will gain personal financial benefit from the proceeds raised.

Use of Funds

100% of proceeds raised from the event will go directly to Purpledayss. No funds will be used for personal gain or unrelated business activities.to support its mission of raising awareness and building inclusive communities.

Funds will specifically be used for:

  • Awareness campaigns for epilepsy and mental health

  • Development of inclusive community projects and events

  • Production of awareness merchandise that helps educate and inspire conversation

  • Creating educational resources (leaflets, booklets, posters) about epilepsy and mental health for schools, workplaces, and community centres.

  • Hosting awareness workshops or assemblies in schools to educate children about epilepsy, seizures, and inclusion.

  • Running social media awareness campaigns to reach a wider audience and share real stories and facts.

  • Producing short videos or mini documentaries that highlight lived experiences and promote understanding.

  • Designing awareness toolkits for teachers, parents, and employers to help support individuals with epilepsy or mental health challenges.

  • Expanding the Purpledayss merchandise range (hoodies, t-shirts, accessories) that raise awareness through style.

  • Collaborating with local artists, schools, or influencers to create limited edition awareness items.

  • Funding pop-up stalls or awareness booths at community events and festivals.

  • Creating care packages for hospitals

  • Organising community wellbeing events, such as mental health walks, mindfulness sessions, or social meetups.

  • Offering free or subsidised awareness training for teachers, youth workers, and sports coaches.

  • Partnering with local sports clubs or schools to create inclusive football sessions for individuals with epilepsy or other disabilities.

  • Running national awareness campaigns, particularly around Purple Day (26th March) and Mental Health Awareness Week.

  • Working with MPs, schools, and healthcare professionals to improve understanding and support for epilepsy in education and employment.

  • Producing advocacy materials (posters, banners, flyers) for future awareness marches, talks, or community campaigns.

Transparency & Reporting

  • A final total and full breakdown of funds raised will be publicly shared via the official Purpledayss social media platforms and GoFundMe page after the event.

  • Purpledayss is committed to maintaining full transparency, accountability, and trust in all fundraising practices.
